Course Content
Health & Safety
Learners will develop the knowledge and professional responsibility required to establish and maintain safe, inclusive and supportive teaching and learning environments. Training covers organisational policies, safeguarding responsibilities, equality and diversity, risk management, professional boundaries and the legal and regulatory requirements that influence education and training practice.
Learners will also understand how to identify and respond to factors that may affect learner wellbeing, participation and achievement. Emphasis is placed on maintaining professional standards, promoting inclusion and ensuring that teaching, learning and assessment activities are carried out safely and responsibly.
Teaching, Learning & Assessment
Learners will develop advanced skills in planning, delivering and assessing inclusive education and training. Training includes the use of initial and diagnostic assessment, agreeing individual learning goals, selecting appropriate teaching strategies, using learning technologies and adapting delivery to meet the diverse needs of learners.
Learners will also use a range of assessment methods to monitor progress, provide constructive feedback and support achievement. They will evaluate the effectiveness of their own planning, teaching and assessment practice and use reflective approaches to improve future delivery.
Educational Theory & Curriculum Development
Learners will gain a detailed understanding of theories, principles and models of learning, communication and assessment and how these can be applied within education and training. Training also explores curriculum development, individual learning preferences and the relationship between educational theory and effective professional practice.
Learners will analyse different approaches to teaching and assessment and use appropriate theories and models to plan inclusive learning programmes. They will also apply theories of reflection and evaluation to review and develop their own professional practice.
Professional Practice
Learners will develop an understanding of professionalism, dual professionalism and the professional values expected within education and training. Training covers educational policy, organisational responsibilities, accountability to learners, employers, stakeholders and external bodies, and the importance of partnership working.
Learners will also understand how to contribute to quality improvement and quality assurance arrangements within an education or training organisation. The qualification supports continuous professional development and the ability to respond effectively to changes in educational policy, professional standards and organisational practice.

Entry Requirement
A minimum Level 2 qualification in Hairdressing or Beauty Therapy is required. Learners should have the knowledge, understanding and communication skills required to successfully complete a Level 5 teaching qualification.
Learners must also have access to a suitable teaching and learning environment in order to produce the practical evidence and complete the observed teaching practice required by the qualification.
Duration
This qualification consists of 390–490 Guided Learning Hours (GLH) and 1200 Total Qualification Time (TQT).

The cost of the course is £2600.00, plus a £250.00 registration fee.
Qualification Awarded
Upon successful completion of all required assessments, observed teaching practice and portfolio evidence, learners will receive the VTCT Skills Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training.

Learners must attend all training sessions in professional attire appropriate to the training environment, consisting of a tunic (where applicable), black trousers and closed-toe shoes.
