Health & Safety

The theoretical component is covered through a home study pack, while practical application is integrated throughout the entirety of the course.

Promote Additional Products & Services to Clients

This module focuses on marketing your services effectively and ensuring that your recommendations are both necessary and beneficial for the client. The theoretical aspects of this module are addressed through an assignment. Additionally, the module covers client counselling and consultation techniques, as well as product sales strategies.

Effectiveness at Work

Ensuring your continued effectiveness at work is essential in any salon setting. By honing your evaluation skills, you’ll be equipped to consistently monitor and enhance your abilities, thereby enhancing your employability.

Facial Treatment

This is a comprehensive study in skin care. Practical skills include: cleansing, toning, skin analysis, exfoliation, moisturising, steaming, extraction, a full facial massage routine, selecting, mixing and applying tailor-made face masks for a variety of skin types. You will also be able to provide accurate skin care recommendations for all skin problems and complaints. The theory involves the anatomy & physiology of the upper torso, including the muscles, bones, blood and nerve supply and an in-depth study of the skin, its diseases and associated disorders.

Eyelash & Brown Treatments

In this module, you will learn about eyelash and eyebrow tinting for various hair and skin types, eyebrow shaping techniques, as well as the proper application and removal of individual and strip false eyelashes. The theoretical aspect of this module encompasses understanding contra-indications and contra-actions.

Waxing Techniques

Throughout this module, you will gain proficiency in hair removal using two distinct methods: hot beeswax and cream wax, alongside other removal techniques. Additionally, you will be taught how to safely lighten hair using a bleaching process. This comprehensive training covers all areas of the face and body. The theoretical component includes understanding the anatomy and physiology of hair, the hair growth cycle, as well as contra-indications and contra-actions.

Manicure & Pedicure Treatments

In this segment, you will acquire comprehensive knowledge of maintenance and care techniques for both nails and skin on the hands and feet. You will be trained in applying single and multi-layer varnishing, as well as mastering French manicure and pedicure techniques. Practical sessions will cover paraffin wax treatments, heated mittens, warm oil applications, exfoliation, and mask treatments. The theoretical component delves into an in-depth study of nail structure, along with the anatomy and physiology of the lower leg and forearms.

Make Up Applications

During this module, you will receive training in professional makeup application for various occasions such as day, evening, and special events. You’ll learn the techniques of utilizing color corrective products and foundations, as well as blushers, eye makeup, and lip products to enhance your clients’ features.

Fulfil Reception Duties

This module offers you the chance to refine your salon reception skills and management responsibilities. If you already hold qualifications in any of the listed units, your existing knowledge may be accredited, potentially eliminating the need to repeat past qualifications.

The units listed constitute the entirety of the diploma. You will be expected to complete ten case studies for each unit on friends and family, along with a variety of assignments and activities, before sitting examinations at the conclusion of each unit.

Entry Requirement

No previous knowledge required, but a good general education is essential as this is a demanding course. An excellent level of English is required. You must be able to speak, read, write and understand English. You may be asked to sit an entry test if necessary. Entry is via initial interview.

Duration

This course is available in two formats: daytime sessions conducted over 12 weeks or evening sessions spread across 28 weeks. For those opting for the fast-track daytime course, full dedication and attention are necessary to complete it efficiently. Additionally, we now offer this course as a long-distance learning option.
