Course Content
Health & Safety and Clinical Environment
This section focuses on maintaining a safe, hygienic and professional treatment environment. Learners will understand infection prevention, cross-contamination control, personal hygiene, risk assessment, safe working practices and compliance with current UK health and safety legislation relevant to beauty therapy treatments.
Anatomy & Physiology
Learners will study the structure and function of the skin, nails, bones, muscles, blood circulation and lymphatic system of the foot and lower leg. Understanding these principles enables learners to assess the condition of the feet and nails and perform pedicure treatments safely and effectively.
Client Consultation & Foot Assessment
This section develops the knowledge and practical skills required to carry out professional consultations, identify contraindications, assess nail and skin conditions, obtain informed consent and develop appropriate treatment plans tailored to individual client needs.
Pedicure Techniques
Learners will develop practical skills in professional pedicure treatments, including nail shaping, cuticle care, removal of excessive hard skin, exfoliation, foot and lower leg massage, specialised foot treatments, nail polishing and the safe use of professional pedicure products to improve the health and appearance of the feet and nails.
Treatment Aftercare & Professional Practice
This section explains how to provide suitable aftercare advice, recommend appropriate foot care products and homecare routines, minimise post-treatment reactions and maintain professional standards throughout the client journey.
Entry Requirement
There are no formal entry requirements for this unit; however, learners should have a good standard of English and an interest in beauty therapy and professional nail services.
Duration
This unit includes 53 Guided Learning Hours (GLH) and combines theoretical learning with supervised practical training. Learners will develop the knowledge and practical competence required to perform professional pedicure services safely and effectively before completing the required practical and external assessments.
Costs
The cost of this unit is £750.00, plus a £100.00 registration fee.
Qualification Awarded
Upon successful completion of all required practical assessments, portfolio evidence and external examinations, learners will receive a VTCT Certificate for the Unit: Provide Pedicure Services. This certificate confirms successful achievement of the Provide Pedicure Services unit only and does not represent the full VTCT Skills Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Beauty Therapy. Learners wishing to achieve the full diploma must successfully complete all required units of the qualification.
KIT Required
Learners must attend in professional uniform (tunic, black trousers, closed shoes).
