Health & Safety

Learners will develop advanced knowledge of salon health and safety, including risk assessment, infection prevention, PPE, COSHH compliance, safe handling of products and equipment, environmental responsibilities, waste management, security procedures and maintaining a safe working environment for clients and staff.

Nail Anatomy & Enhancement Principles

Learners will develop a comprehensive understanding of nail anatomy, physiology and nail growth, common nail conditions and disorders, contra-indications, product chemistry and the scientific principles that underpin professional nail enhancement services. They will understand how to select appropriate products and techniques to achieve safe, effective and long-lasting treatment results.

Client Consultation & Treatment Planning

Learners will develop advanced consultation skills to assess client needs, analyse the natural nails, identify treatment objectives, recognise contra-indications, recommend appropriate nail services and maintain accurate consultation records while delivering professional client care and communication.

Practical Nail Technology Techniques

Practical training includes professional manicure and pedicure treatments, application and maintenance of nail enhancements, natural nail preparation, shaping and finishing techniques, product control, maintenance and removal procedures, troubleshooting and achieving high commercial standards. Depending on the optional units selected, learners may also develop skills in nail art, airbrush nail designs, electric filing techniques, retail promotion and salon product sales.

Treatment Aftercare & Professional Practice

Learners will provide professional aftercare advice, recommend suitable maintenance routines and home-care products, advise on future treatments and demonstrate high standards of professionalism, communication, client care, record keeping and ethical practice within a commercial salon environment.

This qualification consists of 6 mandatory units and a choice of 5 optional units. Learners must successfully complete all mandatory units and achieve a minimum of 12 credits from the optional units to achieve the full qualification.
