Course Content
Health & Safety
Learners will develop an understanding of professional health and safety principles relevant to complementary therapy practice, including infection prevention, hygiene standards, professional responsibilities, client wellbeing and maintaining a safe treatment environment. The course also reinforces the importance of recognising conditions that may influence treatment planning or require referral.
Anatomy, Physiology & Pathology Principles
Learners will gain detailed knowledge of the organisation of the human body, including cells, tissues, organs and body systems. The course explores the structure, function and common pathologies of the skin, hair, nails, skeletal, muscular, nervous, endocrine, respiratory, cardiovascular, lymphatic, digestive, urinary and reproductive systems, providing the scientific foundation required for professional complementary therapy practice.
Client Assessment & Professional Knowledge
Learners will develop the knowledge required to recognise normal anatomy and physiology, understand common pathological conditions and appreciate how these may affect treatment planning. The qualification enables learners to make informed professional decisions while maintaining client safety and delivering evidence-based complementary therapy treatments.
Applied Anatomy & Physiology
Training focuses on applying anatomical and physiological knowledge within professional complementary therapy settings. Learners will understand the interaction between body systems, recognise factors influencing normal body function, identify common pathological conditions and apply this knowledge to support safe and effective treatment planning.
Professional Practice
Learners will develop the theoretical knowledge expected of professional complementary therapists, enabling them to communicate confidently using correct anatomical terminology, interpret scientific concepts accurately and support safe, ethical and professional complementary therapy practice.

There are no formal prerequisite qualifications required to undertake this course. However, learners should have a good standard of literacy and communication skills together with an interest in complementary therapies and human anatomy.
Duration
This qualification consists of 94 Guided Learning Hours (GLH) and 130 Total Qualification Time (TQT).

The cost of the course is £800.00, plus a £150.00 registration fee.
Qualification Awarded
Upon successful completion of all required assessments and portfolio evidence, learners will receive the VTCT Skills Level 3 Certificate in Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology for Complementary Therapies.

Learners must attend all training sessions in professional attire appropriate to the training environment, consisting of a tunic (where applicable), black trousers and closed-toe shoes.
