Course Content
Health & Safety
Learners will develop an understanding of professional responsibilities relating to health, safety and client wellbeing when applying anatomical and physiological knowledge within beauty and complementary therapy practice. The course promotes safe working practices, professional awareness and recognition of conditions that may affect treatment planning or require referral.
Anatomy & Physiology Principles
Learners will gain comprehensive knowledge of the structure and function of the skin, hair, nails and the major body systems, including the skeletal, muscular, nervous, endocrine, respiratory, cardiovascular, lymphatic and digestive systems. The qualification also introduces key concepts in dermatology, microbiology and trichology to provide the scientific foundation required for professional beauty and complementary therapy practice.
Client Assessment & Professional Knowledge
Learners will develop the knowledge required to understand normal anatomical structure, recognise common physiological processes and appreciate how body systems influence professional treatment planning. They will also understand when further investigation or referral may be appropriate to ensure safe and effective practice.
Applied Anatomy & Physiology
Training focuses on applying anatomical and physiological knowledge within professional beauty and complementary therapy settings. Learners will understand the interaction between body systems, the function of skin, hair and nails and the scientific principles that support safe, effective and evidence-based treatments.
Professional Practice
Learners will develop the theoretical knowledge expected of professional practitioners, enabling them to communicate confidently using correct anatomical terminology and apply anatomy and physiology principles to support safe, ethical and professional practice across a range of beauty and complementary therapy treatments.

There are no formal prerequisite qualifications required to undertake this course. However, learners should have a good standard of literacy and communication skills together with an interest in beauty therapy, complementary therapies or the health and wellbeing sector.
Duration
This qualification consists of 60 Guided Learning Hours (GLH) and 70 Total Qualification Time (TQT).

The cost of the course is £550.00, plus a £150.00 registration fee.
Qualification Awarded
Upon successful completion of all required assessments and portfolio evidence, learners will receive the VTCT Skills Level 3 Award in Anatomical and Physiological Knowledge of Body Systems.

Learners must attend all training sessions in professional attire appropriate to the training environment, consisting of a tunic (where applicable), black trousers and closed-toe shoes.
