Course Description
Course Content
Health & Safety
Learners will develop the knowledge required to maintain safe working practices while responding to workplace emergencies. Training covers dynamic risk assessment, infection prevention and control, personal protective equipment (PPE), cross-contamination, safe disposal of contaminated waste, casualty safety and compliance with current UK health and safety legislation and workplace procedures.
Casualty Assessment & Emergency Response
Learners will develop the skills to assess emergency situations using recognised first aid procedures, including scene assessment, the DRABC primary survey, secondary survey, monitoring vital signs and communicating effectively with emergency services. Training also covers prioritising casualties and providing appropriate care until professional medical assistance becomes available.
Practical First Aid Skills
Training focuses on developing practical competence in Adult Basic Life Support (BLS), the safe use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), choking management, severe bleeding control, burns, fractures, shock, medical emergencies, bandaging, slings and casualty management through practical demonstrations and realistic workplace scenarios.
Professional Practice
Learners will strengthen their professional communication, incident reporting, documentation and decision-making skills while working within the limits of their competence. Training also covers confidentiality, casualty dignity, legal responsibilities, ethical practice and the importance of maintaining competence through continuing professional development.
