Course Content
Health & Safety
Learners will develop a comprehensive understanding of current legislation, professional standards and safe working practices relating to lip micropigmentation treatments. Training includes infection prevention and control, PPE, COSHH compliance, aseptic techniques, cross-infection prevention, waste management, client safety, risk assessment and maintaining a safe clinical environment throughout every procedure.
Micropigmentation Principles
Learners will develop knowledge of lip anatomy, skin structure, wound healing, colour theory, pigment characteristics, lip shape analysis and lip design principles. The course also covers treatment protocols, equipment selection, needle configurations and the scientific principles required to perform safe and effective lip micropigmentation treatments.
Client Consultation & Treatment Planning
Learners will develop advanced consultation skills to assess client suitability, review medical history, identify contra-indications, analyse lip shape and characteristics, select appropriate pigments, obtain informed consent and prepare individual treatment plans tailored to each client’s needs.
Practical Lip Micropigmentation Techniques
Practical training includes treatment preparation, equipment setup, pigment selection, machine handling, lip contouring, colour implantation techniques, creating balanced and symmetrical lip enhancements, monitoring treatment progress and evaluating completed results while maintaining professional standards throughout every procedure.
Treatment Aftercare & Professional Practice
Learners will provide comprehensive aftercare advice, recommend suitable home-care products, explain the healing process, advise on follow-up treatments and maintenance procedures, maintain accurate treatment records and demonstrate professional communication and ethical practice throughout the client journey.

Course Structure
This qualification consists of 1 mandatory unit. Learners must successfully complete the mandatory unit together with the required practical observations, portfolio of evidence and theory examination to achieve the qualification.

Entry Requirement
Learners must hold a Level 3 Beauty Therapy qualification (or equivalent) that includes Level 3 Anatomy and Physiology, or the Level 3 Certificate in Access to Aesthetic Therapies. Learners must also be 18 years of age or over.
Duration
This qualification consists of 21 Guided Learning Hours (GLH) and 61 Total Qualification Time (TQT).
Costs
The cost of the course is £3100.00, plus a £150.00 registration fee.
Qualification Awarded
Upon successful completion of the mandatory unit, practical observations, portfolio of evidence and external theory examination, learners will receive the VTCT Skills Level 4 Award in Lip Micropigmentation Techniques.
