Course Content
Health & Safety
Learners will develop an understanding of professional health and safety principles relevant to complementary therapy practice, including infection prevention, hygiene standards, safe working practices, client wellbeing and maintaining a safe treatment environment. The course also reinforces the importance of professional responsibilities when applying anatomical and physiological knowledge in clinical practice.
Anatomy, Physiology & Pathology Principles
Learners will develop a detailed understanding of the organisation of the human body, including cells, tissues, organs and body systems. The course explores the anatomy, physiology and common pathologies of the skin, hair and nails, skeletal, muscular, nervous, endocrine, respiratory, cardiovascular, lymphatic, digestive, urinary and reproductive systems, providing the essential scientific knowledge required for complementary therapy practice.
Client Assessment & Professional Knowledge
Learners will develop the knowledge required to recognise normal anatomical structures and common pathological conditions that may influence treatment planning. They will understand how anatomy, physiology and pathology support safe client assessment, treatment selection and professional decision-making within complementary therapies.
Applied Anatomy & Physiology
Training focuses on applying anatomical and physiological knowledge to professional complementary therapy practice. Learners will understand the relationship between body systems, recognise factors that influence normal body function and identify common pathological conditions that may affect treatment suitability or require referral.
Professional Practice
Learners will develop the theoretical knowledge expected of professional complementary therapists, enabling them to communicate confidently using correct anatomical terminology and apply scientific principles to support safe, effective and evidence-informed complementary therapy treatments.

There are no formal prerequisite qualifications required to undertake this course. However, learners should have the knowledge, understanding and commitment required to successfully complete this Level 3 qualification.
Duration
This qualification consists of 94 Guided Learning Hours (GLH) and 130 Total Qualification Time (TQT).

The cost of the course is £999, plus a £250 registration fee.
Qualification Awarded
Upon successful completion of the external theory examination, learners will receive the VTCT Skills (ITEC) Level 3 Certificate in Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology for the Complementary Therapist.
