This qualification is designed for individuals who wish to work as vocational assessors within further education, private training providers, apprenticeship programmes and workplace learning environments.
It is particularly beneficial for experienced practitioners, trainers, teachers, workplace supervisors and industry professionals who are responsible for assessing learners against occupational standards and qualification requirements.
Learners will develop the knowledge and practical skills required to plan assessments, make assessment decisions, provide constructive feedback and maintain quality assurance standards while supporting learner achievement and progression.

Course Content
The qualification will cover the following areas:
Teaching, Learning and Assessment in Education and Training
Learners will develop an understanding of the roles and responsibilities of teachers and assessors, inclusive teaching practices, assessment methods, behaviour management and the planning and evaluation of teaching and learning activities.
Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment
This unit develops knowledge of assessment principles, assessment methods, quality assurance processes, assessment planning, legal responsibilities and the requirements associated with effective and reliable assessment practice.
Assess Occupational Competence in the Work Environment
Learners will develop the practical skills required to assess occupational competence within real workplace environments, including planning assessments, making assessment decisions, maintaining records and applying quality assurance requirements.
Assess Vocational Skills, Knowledge and Understanding
This unit focuses on assessing learners in non-workplace environments such as classrooms, workshops and training settings through a range of assessment methods including assignments, projects, questioning and practical assessment activities.
Entry Requirement
Learners must be aged 19 years or over.
There are no formal prerequisite qualifications required to undertake this qualification. However, learners should possess appropriate vocational competence and occupational experience within the subject area they intend to assess.
Duration
This qualification includes approximately 150 Guided Learning Hours (GLH) and 240 Total Qualification Time (TQT).

Learners will gain practical assessment experience by assessing other learners during the qualification. Learners must successfully complete all mandatory units and assessment requirements to achieve the qualification.
